In Traditional Chinese Medicine, second spring is a term for menopause, so it reframes this transition. Instead of a decline, it is a vibrant new beginning. It’s also an herbalism concept; in the autumn, the wild weeds come back, and we have this spring-energy, wild-weeds of chickweed, dandelion, cleavers, red clover… but we’re also in this Autumnal time of harvest, decay, and letting go.
In the embodiment of this time of Autumn, we're moving from fertility and outward creation to self-nourishment, deepened wisdom, spiritual growth, and renewed vitality. There’s this second blooming of energy after the reproductive years end. There’s this rejuvenation of Spring and maidenhood through the midlife time.
